What is car insurance?
Car insurance is a legal requirement under the laws known as the Road Traffic Act 1988. You, as the insured, pay a premium in exchange for the cover of the risk that you are accepted to be by the insurance company, providing your policy. The RTA requires that you insure a vehicle for third party risks which is why the minimum requirement in the UK for any driver is third party cover.
