17-year-old drivers should park in the garage
Parking in the garage could help 17-year-old drivers reduce their annual motor insurance premiums.
Research from Saga Motor Insurance reveals that UK motorists could save around £100 million a year by simply parking their car in a secure garage rather than in the drive or on the road.
Even though 56 per cent of drivers do have access to a garage, just 24 per cent of these actually use it to store their vehicle. Instead, the garage has become a storage area for "junk", according to 71 per cent of drivers.
However, 17-year-old drivers are subject to high insurance costs because they do not have much experience on the roads and have had not built up no claims discounts, therefore they should try to ensure their car can be locked away each night.
"People are leaving their cars out on the streets at the mercy of opportunist thieves, vandals and the British weather! By clearing out their garage to make room for their car they could make a significant saving on their motor insurance," said Andrew Goodsell, chief executive at Saga.
