Car insurance survey finds lax attitude among young drivers
Young drivers have a rather lax attitude to car insurance, a new survey has found.
Research by the RAC and Max Power revealed that up to a third of young people had driven without insurance.
Perhaps more worryingly, 13 per cent said they thought it was okay to drive uninsured because it "doesn't hurt anyone".
"Uninsured drivers now account for five per cent of motorists," said Edmund King, executive director of the RAC Foundation.
"These drivers cause more accidents and are more likely to be involved in other serious crimes than insured drivers."
Uninsured drivers add around £30 to cost of every car insurance premium in the UK .
