Drivers without car insurance cost £100m
Uninsured drivers cost the UK £100 million a year according to the insurance industry.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is calling on the government to do more to tackle the problem.
One suggestion has been a change in the law that would enable the authorities to target the owners of uninsured vehicles.
At the moment, uninsured drivers are only likely to be prosecuted if they are caught red-handed.
The ABI wants a new system that automatically issue fines for people who own uninsured vehicles.
