Young drivers blame high premiums for breaking the law
Young drivers who don't have adequate car insurance think the law is to blame.
A recent survey found some young people have an alarmingly lax attitude to car insurance, with a third of respondents admitting to have driven without cover.
The research also found that four per cent of young people believed it was okay to drive uninsured because of the cost of insurance premiums.
The RAC/Max Power survey was intended to dispel the myth that driving without insurance is a victimless crime.
Uninsured drivers are six times more likely to drive a non road-worthy vehicle; up to nine times more likely to be involved in an accident more likely to be involved in a hit and run collision; three times more likely to have been convicted of driving without due care; and attention ten times more likely to have been convicted of drink driving.
