Young drivers can't rely on the goodness of neighbours
Young drivers may have good neighbours but they also need to ensure they take out adequate car insurance and protect their vehicle from criminals.
A study conducted by Barclays Insurance shows that 97 per cent of people claim to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour around our neighbours' property, with 74 per cent saying they would call the police if they saw anyone acting suspiciously.
"We have some very brave neighbours who are 'have a go neighbourly heroes,' 31 per cent of men and 17 per cent of women say they would intervene directly if they saw anyone acting suspiciously near their neighbour's property. So it appears to be a modern myth that there is a lack of community spirit - we just don't talk about it," said Adrian Grace, managing director of Barclays Insurance Services.
However, Mr Grace warned: "Don't just rely on just your neighbours to keep an eye on your property."
Young drivers are being encouraged to ensure they leave their car securely locked and hide all valuables out of sight.
