Top Tips for young drivers on saving money on car insurance

save Policies for provisional or first time drivers
  • In the long term there is no substitute for building a no claims bonus. Not only are the percentage discounts huge (starting at 30%) but by not having a no claims there are automatically insurance schemes that will not offer you a quote.
  • Try adding a more mature driver to your policy. Sometimes this will offer a marginal reduction on the price.
  • Have a look at a voluntary excess. Be warned though as a young driver, your excess is likely to already be high, don't take on an excess you cannot pay in the event of a claim.
  • Try not to contemplate modifying your car, insurance companies in general charge much more for modifications.
  • If you have a low annual mileage then you may qualify for a discount. Do not be tempted to deliberately underestimate your mileage though.
